Experience the subtropical Jungle in our Treetop Palapa!
This really connects you with nature! Step out from underneath the palapa roof at night and have a fantastic view of the milky way, away from light pollution. No alarm clock needed: an orchestra of tropical birds will sing you awake, and it's even most enchanting in the spring! Be prepared for over 80% humidity during raining season which is typically from June to November.

orchid_closedThe Surroundings  Rain or shine - there is great hiking on nearby jungle paths; or take a refreshing dip in one of the cenotes in walking distance, like the magical cave cenotes at 7 Bocas; or Boca del Puma eco park, where you can also zip-line across tree tops; or the natural beauty of Lucero Verde, which is an open cenote with a zip line across it.  The summer months are for snorkeling respectfully with the whale sharks during June and August.  Our community of Central Vallarta has 2 convenient stores now, and it's only a 15-minute drive to charming Puerto Morelos, the beach, shopping and restaurants.  Cancun airport is a 30-minute drive, and Playa del Carmen ca. 40 minutes.  Public transportation is available during the day, and the fare is currently 22 pesos one way.  A taxi to Puerto Morelos costs currently 150 pesos one way. (as of October 2014) I recommend renting a car during your stay though.  That way you are independent to visit nearby sights.  Find inspiration for daytrips on my tours page - whether you explore the Mayan world on your own or let me take you on the backroads!

The Space

The palapa accommodates 2 or 3 guests, and is equipped with a private half-bath, a gas stove, a mini-fridge that runs on electricity, and cooking utensils.  The usual set-up is one double bed plus an extra single bed, if needed.  The entire space is closed in with mosquito netting, and there are individual mosquito nets over the beds.

yellow_treeRefresh  You get to take your shower under the trees in the garden, with a camping shower bag that you fill with water and heat up in the sun.  Alternatively, there is the garden hose with a good pressure, if you prefer a good splash with fresh well water.  Please use biodegradable products, if you can.

Eat Well
Basic, continental  breakfast is supplied, and you can fix simple meals on the stove. It's best to pick up some groceries and drinking water on your way from the airport to be prepared.

Conscious Waste  The most important thing to remember - and this actually applies all across Mexico - is that the used toilet paper is thrown in the bucket next to the toilet, and only human excrement goes in the toilet. (not even food scraps).  The house has a sensitive, plant-based water purification system.  I will have a Guest Manual for you to refer to in terms of recycling and waste management.

Find Meaning  Voluntourism becomes ever more popular, and I receive requests of travelers who like to contribute they talents and skills to the local communities while learning about the Maya Culture or just enjoying some of the world's top beaches.  Stay for free, if you feel like helping with gardening or maintenance projects (just pay your food); or at a discounted rate, if you want to teach English or useful life sciences to the kids in Central Vallarta.
