Why learn another language?
Without a doubt, speaking other languages enhances your travel experiences and allows you to connect with locals on a much deeper level and learn about their culture, traditions, and perspectives. Not only that – in many cases, people from other cultures live in our communities, and being able to communicate in multiple languages helps build relationships with a wider range of people and foster social connections, empathy, and global understanding.
Another advantage is that being bilingual or multilingual boosts your career opportunities! It’s an asset in many industries, making you more competitive in the global job market.
But did you know that speaking other languages also has cognitive benefits? It improves memory, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. Bilinguals often display greater mental flexibility. It also supports mental health as studies suggest that bilingualism can delay the onset of cognitive decline and dementia.
What about translation software?
We live in times when we have great translating apps and tools at our fingertips – but what if your phone battery went dead in the middle of the most interesting conversation with a local while traveling? Or when you are about to close a deal with a foreign business partner or in the process of exchanging important information?
Here, the human factor comes into play: It’s so empowering to have that vocabulary and grammar structure internalized!
If you have been thinking about taking up German, Spanish, English, or French – you are in the right place! Whether for travel, school, business, or just for fun, With me, you’ll not only get a grip on grammar and structure, but since I have first-hand experience as a citizen of Germany, France, Mexico and the USA I’m able to convey cultural aspects as well. I became a California-credentialed CBEST teacher in 2010, and I have about 20 years of experience as a language teacher and tutor. I also hold the DLL-6 certificate from the Goethe Institute for building curriculum.
As a native from Germany – The Land of Poets & Thinkers – I truly enjoy classes with advanced students of the German language with a focus on conversation about literacy, philosophy or any topic of their interest!
